Stormzy is running for Best Grime Act, at the MOBO Awards – and rightly so.

Back in January, The South London rapper came number 3 in the BBC Introducing Top 5 on Radio 1. Then last month, his track Shut Up, became the first freestyle ever to net a top 40 slot in the UK, hitting  number 18 on September 24th. There’s no doubt about it- Stormzy is on the up.

A self proclaimed, “child of grime”, Stormzy is the latest in a new wave of British Rap Music. Together with the likes of Jammz, YGG,  Mez and Krept & Konan, he leads the way in UK Grime scene at the moment, with a rhyme style and energy that few can compete with. In a genre dominated by people like Wiley, Dizzee Rascal and Skepta, Stormzy has earned his stripes online, spitting freestyles over classic grime beats in the web series Wicked Skengman. Off the back of that, he released his debut EP,Dreamers Disease in July 2014, before later becoming the first ever unsigned rapper to appear on Later With Jools Holland, where he delivered the track Not That Deep.

Having already scooped the same award at last year’s MOBO’s, 2015’s should be a walk in the park. Saying that, the competition is steep. He’s up against all the big boys:  JME, Lethal Bizzle,  Ghetts. With less than a week to go before  voting closes, show your support now, by visting for a say on who takes the crown.
