Marvel Release A New Set Of Hip Hop Comic Covers

Spread The Word

Marvel has reached the golden hatrick as they release a new set of hip-hop variant covers for comic book lovers and hip hop heads all over the world.

The latest set of covers feature a number of greats who played a part in changing the way people look at albums. It was no longer just about the music, but the expression through Art that intertwines so closely with it.

Marvel have introduced the likes of Ice Cube’s “Death Certificate,” Diggable Planets’ “Blowout Comb,” Method Man’s “Tical” and Snoop Dogg’s much loved “Doggystyle.” The beautifully created artwork came from the minds of artists Tim Bradstreet, Javier Pulido, Mike Del Mundo and Juan Doe.

In recent times we have seen music artists take great pride in their visuals, just as the icons featured through Marvel did. Artists such as Ab-Soul for “These Days” or The Game who allowed his fans to design the cover for his 2014 mixtape “Year Of The Wolf” prove that the love for music doesn’t just stop at music.

Axel Alonso, Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics told Entertainment Weekly, “From West Coast ‘G Thang’ to East Coast Wu – this week, we pay tribute to a wide range of musical styles and for of the most iconic album covers ever.

The new set, along with the original two will go on sale later this year. Comment below telling us your favourite, and what album cover you think Marvel should produce next!
