Large Professor Back In The Lab With New Album, Re: Living Legend – Preview

By Anton Constantinou

Hip hop’s own Mad Scientist, Large Professor is soon to drop an an exciting new solo album in an effort to resurge his quintessential Main Source sound

Due for release on June 9th, Re: Living Legend is set to bring back the precision scratching, deft sample flips, intricately layered grooves and butter smooth raps that made him such a crucial act in the 90’s.

Singles dropped so far include, In The Scrolls,  Own World and Opulence. Of the other 8 tracks to follow on the album,  there’s support from heavy hitters, Inspectah Deck,  Cormega and Roc Marciano.

The Large Professor we immortalise is a hip hop renaissance man, capable of crafting beats just as masterfully as he spits over them.  He’s produced for all the greats: Nas, Erik B & Rakim, Kool G Rap, Jeru the Damaja, A Tribe Called Quest, not mention bringing us some of the tightest rhyme  schemes to date.

Arguably his most groundbreaking work came on Main Source album release, Breaking Atoms: a spacey, golden era LP rich with jazz/ soul samples and complex themes that influenced so much later Hip Hop to come.  It packs classics like Looking at the Front Door, Just A Friendly Game of Baseball, as well as Nas debut, Live At The BBQ.

If his current track record is anything to go on, then Re: Living Legend will assuredly live up to its name as a salute one of the best cats in the game.
